This September, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra returns to VivoCity for two evenings of live music, led by Principal Conductor Quek Ling Kiong and Associate Conductor Moses Gay.
The concert opens with First Generation, specially commissioned by Mapletree,by Singaporean composer Koh Cheng Jin under the baton of Quek, setting the stage for a thoughtfully curated programme that celebrates the richness of Chinese orchestral music through a blend of beloved classics and contemporary works. Audiences can look forward to favourites conducted by Moses such as The Moon Represents My Heart, Full Moon Blossoms, and Good Morning, Sir, alongside Axi Moon Dance and Journey to Lhasa. Together, these works showcase the beauty, diversity, and expressive colours of the Chinese orchestra.
A highlight to look out for is the xylophone performance of Czardas by SCO percussion musician Derek Koh, whose dazzling technique brings the energy and passion of the famous Hungarian dance to life.
