Essence of SCO

What is left of the arts as COVID-19 affects every part of our lives? What defines our essence as an orchestra? We invite you to join us as we explore these questions in the Essence of SCO, a pilot live concert with Facebook livestreaming.

This symbolic concert filled with well-loved classics will begin with an energetic piece, Celebration Overture. The orchestra will then follow up with an adaptation of the contemplative erhu classic, Reflection of the Moon on Erquan, to represent the challenges faced by all who have been affected by this pandemic. The mood will then be lifted with the piece, Jasmine, a flower which represents positivity and purity – to bring comfort and encouragement to each of us. Last but not least, the evening will conclude with The Celestial Web to symbolize how we are all connected and united in our struggles and triumphs in these trying times.
