The Singapore Chinese Orchestra Company Limited would like to invite applications for the following positions:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Rigging, setting up, and operating audio systems, video systems, lighting rigs, and stage equipment according to production requirements
- Provide technical support during rehearsals, sound checks, and live performances
- Identify and resolve technical issues to minimize downtime during productions swiftly
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards for equipment operation and rigging
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure reliability and optimal performance
- Participate in production planning such as work scheduling, equipment servicing and maintenance, and resource deployment in collaboration with crewmembers
- Collaborate closely with stage managers, performers, and production team to ensure smooth show execution.
- Provide logistical support and perform backstage and onstage tasks including stand-by, set up and strike for show events, rehearsals, concerts and performances
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and setup of equipment, stage logistics, props, and scenery
- Work closely with the Head of Concert Production to fulfill the company’s production goals
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or Higher Nitec, relating to engineering, concert production, theatre, audio, visual or sound engineering, or other related fields. Alternatively, a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in concert production with N or O Levels.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating audio systems (mixers, microphones, speakers), video systems (video controllers, switchers), lighting systems (fixtures, consoles), and stage equipment (risers, rigging, trusses)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficient in English, and basic understanding of Chinese for liaison with Mandarin-speaking musicians and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with technical and staging equipment, live production systems, and theatrical terminology is advantageous but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and diagram layouts (Vectorworks, AutoCAD) is an advantage, but not essential, with external training available if needed.
- A Work at Height certification, is advantageous, but not required, as relevant training and certification can be arranged.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as needed for productions, with overtime pay provided for additional hours worked
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy equipment and work on your feet for extended periods
- Passion for live entertainment and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving
- Unsuccessful candidates may be considered for part-time position
