Singapore, 17 June 2019 (Monday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will perform a Lunchtime Concert at Mapletree Business City’s (MBC) Plaza, as part of Mapletree Investments’ “Arts in the City” series of performances. The SCO Lunchtime Concert at MBC, conducted by SCO Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong, will be on 3 July 2019 (Wednesday) from 12.30pm – 1.30pm.

SCO will perform a selection of familiar tunes including Take Me Home, Country Road, Sway and the David Tao favourite – Moon Over My Heart(月亮代表谁的心), a twist on the Teresa Teng hit song The Moon Represents My Heart(月亮代表我的心), of which, SCO suona principal Chang Le takes on the solo for this piece. Audience can also enjoy Medley of Sichuan Folk Songs(四川民歌串烧)composed by young composer Wang Chenwei, One Night in Beijing(北京一夜) and Lenggang Kangkung, which comprises of a medley of familiar malay folk tunes.

SCO’s erhu musician Tao Kaili will perform Vittorio Monti’s classic work for the violin – Czardas, on the gaohu. Ending off the concert will be xinyao evergreen work Friends Forever(细水长流), composed by Singaporean singer songwriter Liang Wern Fook.

The “Arts in the City” series is one of Mapletree’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts to support the arts, by providing a platform for local arts groups and brings performance arts to its working community. MBC is one of the National Art Council’s Arts and Cultural Nodes, which was developed for people to come together to participate in, enjoy, and experience the value of arts in their neighbourhood. MBC is also the venue partner for this concert.
