Singapore, 5 December 2019 (Thursday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will be bringing smiles to the residents of Bukit Merah View with a jubilant community concert on 14 December 2019. As SCO’s final concert of the year, Assistant Conductor Moses Gay will pull out all the stops; boasting a set list of classics and evergreen songs guaranteed to get audiences in a celebratory mood. Admission is free and all are welcome to join SCO at Bukit Merah View Square on 14 December 2019, 7pm!

The concert will hit the ground running with energetic renditions of iconic pieces Thunderstorm and Drought (旱天雷), A Well-Matched Fight (龙腾虎跃), and In Spring
(春天里). Keeping up the momentum, the orchestra will perform western classics Hungarian Dance No. 5 and Romanian Folk Dances, a suite of six traditional Romanian folk tunes such as Poarga Românească (Romanian Polka) and Mărunţel (Quick Dance). Following these impressive works, audiences will be able to sing along as the concert segues into nostalgic evergreen songs – including Perhaps, Perhaps, PerhapsThe Moon Represents My Heart (月亮代表我的心), Story of the Little Town (小城故事), and Shanghai Bund (上海滩). SCO will then round off the evening with festive celebration, performing Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, and a medley of familiar Christmas tunes.

SCO has been able to share its distinctive sound with everyone through these community performances. This concert is part of the SPH Gift of Music Series sponsored by Singapore Press Holdings, supported by Temasek Foundation and co-organised by Henderson-Dawson Community Arts and Culture Committee. Ms Joan Pereira (Grassroots Adviser to Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Organisation) is the host Adviser for this event and will be in attendance.
