First launched in 2018, Music Tuesdays is a series of concerts held on Tuesday evening for audience to experience an intimate chamber concert with colleagues and friends to gather and chill out after a day’s work.
Music Tuesdays: Music of Nature
Music Tuesdays: Music of Nature’s team of nine SCO musicians will be performing on 3 March 2020, 7.30pm at the SCO Concert Hall. Together with Qu Jianqing (Yangqin), Phang Thean Siong (Dizi), Ong Yi Horng (Sheng), Tan Loke Chuah (Percussion), Foong Chui San (Ruan), Fontane Liang (Harp), Liu Zhiyue (Huqin) and Eddie Sim (Cello), they will be presenting several unique works.
The ensemble will present the beauty of nature and sounds, through pieces such as the world premiere of Flowing Stream, Song of Birds in the Desolate Mountains, Moonlit Lake in Autumn and The Ancient Tea Horse Road. Audiences will be in for a treat, as the Harpist Fontane will be performing The Nightingale, the cellist Eddie will be performing The Swan and the dizi soloist Thean Siong will be performing A Stroll to Suzhou.
Come experience the delicate beauty of Mother Nature. This concert is approximate 1-hour long. Musicians will engage in a post-concert chat with audiences after the concert.
Music Tuesdays: Picturesque Mountains and Rivers
Music Tuesdays: Picturesque Mountains and Rivers will wow audiences with the debut of two pieces of music. The concert will be held on 28 April 2020, 7.30pm at the SCO Concert Hall. Meticulously curated and planned by SCO dizi musician Zeng Zhi will be presenting several unique works.Music Tuesdays: Picturesque Mountains and Rivers will wow audiences with the debut of two pieces of music. China’s mountains and rivers have always been the inspiration of poets and artists. In this concert, the audiences will be transported to picturesque sceneries through works including Flying Clouds and Flowing Water, The Qingming Scroll and Wild Geese Descending on the Sandbank. Audiences can also look forward to the world premiere of two works: Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains, composed by Tang Haolin and Travellers among Mountains and Streams, composed by SCO’s ex-musician Zhong Zhiyue. This is an exciting concert, not to be missed. Zeng Zhi hopes to paint the artistic beauty and literature of the Song Dynasty, with their heartfelt music.
