Specially dedicated to all Singaporeans, healthcare professionals and every amazing mother, Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s upcoming #DabaoSCO series will bring forth much joy and happiness with our lovely music. ‘Cause we love you, mum!
Share this #DabaoSCO special series with your mother, grandmother and aunties - Encore! Mother’s Day Concert 2017 – A Kiss from Mum, and do enjoy the show, together, wherever you are! Watch out for this concert on 8 May 2020 (Friday). （Note: Our Mother's Day special #DabaoSCO concert was later shifted to 10 May 2020 (Sunday) to coincide with Mother's Day.)
Celebrate Mother’s Day with SCO and renowned getai singers Lee Peifen 李佩芬 and Hao Hao 浩浩, as they serenade us with familiar oldies such as Mum in the Dream《梦中的妈妈》, Old Clothes are better than New Ones《新衣哪有旧衣好》, I Really Love You《真的爱你》, Lu Bing Hua (Lupin Flower)《鲁冰花》, Wife《家后》and Grandma’s Words《阿嫲的话》.
SCO erhu musician Shen Qin 沈芹will perform A Song Dedicated to Mum 《献给母亲的歌》while SCO guzheng musician Xu Hui 许徽will perform Wang Jue’s San Zi Jing《三字经》. Enjoy SCO’s performance of a medley dedicated to mothers , which includes A Kiss from Mum《妈妈的吻》and The Lovable Rose《可爱的玫瑰花》. A special gift to all mothers, definitely not to be missed!
Human Diaries （乐家心语）
Newly launched on 15 April 2020 (Wednesday), with the aim of connecting with our youth audiences by showcasing the human side of our musicians, this weekly series will be presented in a variety of capsule video interview formats.
For this Mother’s Day special edition, SCO yangqin musician Ma Huan 马欢; a loving mother to her 4-year-old daughter will be featured. In her interview, Ma Huan shared about her growing up years, motherhood journey and also her views on exposing her child to music during early development years. Watch out for this special Mother’s Day edition Human Diaries interview on 6 May 2020 (Wednesday).
#RoomforMusic (#乐来乐宅)
Launched on 28 March 2020 (Saturday), our very own SCO musicians took the lead to come up with this initiative #RoomforMusic (#乐来乐宅). Some of the musicians gathered fellow colleagues to work together and unleashed their creativity, while they record melodious tunes in their own homes.
With the circuit breaker extended till 1 June 2020, SCO will present a special Mother’s Day edition of #RoomforMusic to show our appreciation to the Mothers in our lives, for showering the family with love through cooking, housework and attending to their children and loved ones during this work-from-home and home-based learning period. Musicians will be performing pieces revolving around the theme Mother, or pieces which their mothers love. Stay tuned for the action from 4 May 2020 (Monday) to 10 May 2020 (Sunday)!
