Executive Director of SCO Mr Terence Ho and Chief Executive Officer of SCCC Mr Low Sze Wee signed the agreement at the opening ceremony of SCCC’s annual flagship festival, Cultural Extravaganza 2023 today. This was witnessed by the Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry Ms Low Yen Ling and Chairman of both SCO and SCCC Mr Ng Siew Quan.

Both SCO and SCCC highlight the distinctive local Chinese culture in their offerings. Being situated next to each other, they are well-placed to create a vibrant local Chinese cultural hub in the heart of the financial district.

The scope of collaboration include:

  • Joint programming and marketing of content and events
  • Share premises for events and business continuity purposes
  • Pool resources to achieve economies of scale for shared services
  • Share best practices and knowledge

Mr Low said, “SCCC and SCO have been great neighbours and strong partners. The Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) has been a fixture at our Cultural Extravaganza and we jointly organised the online Wednesday Waltz series during COVID19. SCCC’s premises were also used for the Singapore Chinese Music Festival co-organised by both parties. The MOU will further cement our existing relationship and expand our collaborations into new areas given our geographical proximity. I look forward to more exciting programmes that we can offer together with SCO.”

Mr Ho further added, “SCO and SCCC have always been close-knit partners from the start, working closely on venue partnership and various programmes. With the signing of this MOU, we hope to achieve even greater synergy and success, and create a vibrant and exciting Chinese culture hub with a uniquely Singapore identity, to enrich the community at the heart of Shenton Way. I look forward to many collaborations and creation of many programmes ahead.”
