Singapore, 12 March 2013 (Tuesday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will present a musical month this April with a series of community concerts for you! SCO’s Community Series is made possible with the support from the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) under the SPH Gift of Music Series. Admission is free.
SCO will make its first stop at Tiong Bahru Park on 6 April with familiar favourites such as Confluence, Di Tanjong Katong & Wu Cai Bin Fen, Rhythm of the Rain, Brazil Brazil, Cha Cha Mambo, Fengyang Flower Drum and Drums of the Central Plains from Portfolio of Chinese Instrumental Pieces. The orchestra will also perform K-Pop music Nobody and Hallyu Girl Power.
On 7 April, SCO will perform at the Yuhua Village. Expect pieces such as Suriram, Advance with Courage, Chinese Oldies Medley and Dancing with the Golden Snake. The first prize winner for Pipa Junior Category in National Chinese Music Competition 2012, Chen Xinyu will perform Spring at Tianshan while the first prize winner for Guzheng Youth Category in National Chinese Music Competition 2012, Nicholas Quek Wei Sheng will perform Nostalgia. SCO will also present K-Pop music Nobody and Gangnam Style with dance performance by Devine Dance Group.
For the very first time, SCO will perform at Gardens by the Bay on 27 April! Be mesmerized by the beautiful Garden’s evening backdrop with relaxing classics such as Grassland Fantasia, Amazing Grace, Reverie of Green Pastures, Lan Hua Cao, The Winds of Marina Bay, Chinese Oldies Medley and The Heavenly Orchid Garden.
The SPH Gift of Music Series has been entertaining Singapore audience since its launch in 2005. Supported by the SPH, the popular free concert series has brought music to the community in various locations such as the heartlands, parks, shopping malls, schools, campuses and the Esplanade.
