Singapore, 4 April 2013 (Thursday) – After two years’ of rousing performances of “The Little Adventurer of SCO”, the third series – The Little Adventurer of SCO 3: Searching for the Amazing Musical Bow – returns this May!
In the first and second series, the kids were brought to discover the percussion and wind instruments! In this return concert, where would the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong (known as “Mr Quek” in his role) lead the little ones to? Mr Quek will once again be a hunter and lead the little audience to the vast grasslands and Jiangnan area to discover the amazing musical bow!
In this fun-filled yet educational concert, Mr Quek will introduce various bow-string instruments including erhu, zhonghu, gaohu, cello and double bass! The miraculous powers of the musical bow will be demonstrated by its carefree rhythm in Song of Birds in a Desolate Mountain, it’s mesmerising beauty in Saint Saëns’s The Swan and its frenetic pace in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Flight of the Bumble-Bee. The kids will also see the orchestra using various erhu performing techniques to imitate the hoof beat, the fight at close quarters and horses neighing in Chen Yao Xing’s War Horses Racing. Other delightful pieces that will be presented in this concert including Grasslands Fantasia, Birds Returning to the Woods, Reflection of the Moon on Erquan, Oogway Ascends, Kungfu Fighting and more.
