The first of four performances in the Keppel Land-sponsored series takes place on 4 August 2013 at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and takes on the theme of Singapore’s National Day.
Singapore, 19 July 2013 – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) returns to the Singapore Botanic Gardens to present its signature Outdoor Rhapsodies, proudly sponsored by Keppel Land.
The Keppel Land – SCO Outdoor Rhapsody brings melodies played by traditional Chinese music instruments to the masses. A series of four outdoor concerts will take place at the Singapore Botanic Gardens on 4 August 2013, 13 October 2013,
19 January 2014 and 5 April 2014.

The first Keppel Land – SCO Outdoor Rhapsody on Sunday, 4 August 2013, at 6.00pm, will be conducted by SCO’s Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong and Young Associate Conductor-in-Residence Moses Gay En Hui. Admission is free.
In celebration of Singapore’s 48th birthday, concert goers can expect an evening of familiar national tunes such as Sim Boon Yew’s Charms of Hometown Suite, a piece incorporating Hakka, Cantonese, Teochew and Hokkien music; Malay dance music Menari Dari Kampung, and compositions by local award-winning young composer
Wang Chen Wei’s Confluence and The Sisters’ Islands. Singaporeans will also get to hear favourite National Day theme songs including We Will Get There, We Are Singapore, One United People and Home, rearranged by Law Wai Lun.
