Singapore, 4 October 2013 (Friday) – In this all-new Chinese-language concerts for children, Singapore Chinese Orchestra promises to bring all children on a fun-filled and enriching musical journey!

Choreographed by SCO Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong, children will get to enjoy and understand Chinese orchestral music, they will also learn about Singapore’s history and culture through this educational concert. Quek Ling Kiong (known as “Ah De” in his role), with storyteller Chen Zhao Jin, will take the children to Singapore’s legendary beginnings in the 1920s, visiting famous alleys and old houses along Smith Street, Mosque Street, Pagoda Street and Temple Street. Children will get to hear delightful pieces such as Little White Boat, Dayung Sampan, Law Wai Lun’s Admiral of Seven Seas and Prince Sang Nila Utama and Singa, Gu Guan Ren’s A Glimpse of Singapore, Phoon Yew Tien’s A Portrait of Singapore’s Children Songs and more! Combined with interactive storytelling and visual arts, this will be a concert not to be missed!

If you’re looking for an enriching activity for your children, a concert filled with educational elements and music, don’t miss Voyage to Nanyang – Tunes of Old Streets on 8 & 9 November 2013. There will also be pre-concert singing session and origami paper-folding activity for children (ticketholders) on 9 November 2013.
