Singapore, 12 February 2014 (Wednesday) – After three years of sold out and overwhelming responses to The Little Adventurer of SCO, the fourth series – The Riddle of Dew Drop Bubbles – returns this March!
Having discovered the percussion, wind and bow-strings instruments in the last three series, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong (known as “Mr Quek” in his role) will introduce the plucked-strings instruments to the children where he will transform into an adventurer and lead the children to various places (including “under water”) to discover the mystery instruments and mysterious tunes!
Follow Mr Quek to the riverside to hear “sisters” of this section – the yangqin and konghou – play for you Ballade Pour Adeline and Water of The Trickling Stream. At the Shaolin temple, the twin exponents of musical martial arts – liuqin and pipa – will showcase the Shaolin Prowess! The round and chubby-faced ruan and the guitar-like sanxian turn up next in pursuit of each other, present to you Silk Road Camel Bells and selections from Dream of the Red Chamber Suite. Enjoy Songs of Fishermen at Dusk at the seaside and play with the little mermaid in the delightful piece Under the Sea! The whole family in the orchestra will also present to you American folksong – Kentucky and Susanna and theme song for this concert – A Musical Adventurer IV.
