Singapore, 9 June 2014 (Monday) – The Singapore International Competition for Chinese Orchestral Composition 2015 (SICCOC), organised by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) is now open for registration. SICCOC, started in 2006 and held again in 2011, aims to promote musical creativity, stimulate international awareness and to establish a repertoire of Nanyang- and/or Singapore-inspired Chinese orchestra pieces. SICCOC is proudly supported by SCO Patron, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

SCO is calling for local and international composers to register for this competition. Registration closes on 1 October 2014. The competition is open to all nationalities and ages. Winners will receive attractive cash prizes and their compositions will be performed by the SCO at the Prize Presentation Ceremony and Concert on 21 November 2015. The first prize winner will be awarded SGD15,000 and overseas finalists will also be given up to SGD1,000 in travel and accommodation subsidies.
