Singapore, 18 September 2014 (Thursday) – The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will hold its Fundraising Gala Dinner and Concert 2014 on 4 October 2014 (Saturday) at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia Hotel. This event will be graced by SCO Patron, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
SCO’s annual fundraising gala raises funds for the development and to fund the operations of the orchestra. Under the baton of Music Director Tsung Yeh, Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong and Assistant Conductor Moses Gay, this year’s fundraising gala themed “Our Music Our Passion” will feature young talents, showcasing the spirit of “Chinese orchestra music succession”. SCO’s young erhu musicians – Zhou Ruo Yu, Tan Man Man, Hsieh I-chieh, Yuan Qi and Qin Zi Jing will perform Melodies of Yangzhou and Flight of the Bumblebee. SCO sheng musician Zhong Zhi Yue, guan musician Han Lei and ruan musician Han Ying will bring you to the vast grasslands in Grassland Fantasia – a piece originated from a famous Mongolia folk song. The concert will also present Nanyang piece – A Stroll in the Lion City and uniquely SCO’s East-meets-West pieces – Strike Up the Band and Horse and Buggy.
SCO has achieved tremendous rave reviews from 28 June 2014’s Our People Our Music 2014’s mega concert at the National Stadium, and SCO will receive another national recognition at the gala event.
