Singapore, 22 January 2015 (Thursday) – Rejoice and welcome the Year of the Goat with abundance of festive music at SPH Gift of Music – SCO Community Series this February! SCO’s Community Series is made possible with the support from the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) under the SPH Gift of Music Series. Admission is free.
SCO goes to Nee Soon East on 7 February and Ang Mo Kio on 8 February 2015 to present two evenings of joyous new year concerts to the community. SCO’s Assistant Conductor Moses Gay will lead the orchestra to present the bustling Spring Festival Overture, Spring Festival Medley, Full Moon Blossoms and evergreen pieces – The Moon Represents My Heart, Sweet Love, Story of The Little Town and Wild Flowers by the Roadside. SCO will also perform the high-spirited The General’s Command, bringing the evening to a celebrative climax!
On 14 February, in celebration of Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year, SCO will perform at Far East Plaza with a theme of love and celebration. Expect pieces such as King of Romantic Hits, Songs of Jay Chou, Those Years, A Happy Year, Celebrating the New Year and Radiant with Joy. SCO’s percussion principal Duan Fei and percussionist Xu Fan will also perform the exciting Jiangzhou drum music Bull Fighting Tiger. This concert will be conducted by Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong.
On 15 February, SCO spreads the festive joy at Nee Soon South. Under the baton of Ling Kiong, enjoy Chinese New Year songs such as Celebrating the New Year, In Spring and Suite of Spring. The orchestra will also perform the romantic Songs of Jay Chou and King of Romantic Hits.
SCO Community Series brings music to your neighbourhood. This popular free concert series reflects SCO’s vision as a people’s orchestra – an institution for the community – where high standard performances are brought to the community.
