Singapore, 30 March 2015 (Monday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s Caring Series concerts in 2015 kickstarts in April. The opening performance of SCO Caring Series 2015 will be held at the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on 2 April (Saturday) at 12.30pm.

SCO Caring Series is an initiative (from 2007) to provide melodious music to patients in hospitals and care centres to provide them with a form of music enjoyment and healing touch. Besides patients, those working on the frontline, committed and dedicated to their line of work, need occasional breather and encouragement to bring their service to the next level. SCO aspires to provide this form of spiritual encouragement to these healthcare heroes and workers.

Mr Terence Ho, SCO’s Executive Director, shared, “What can be more inspiring if we could dream beyond and touch the hearts of the people with the beauty of our music? SCO Caring Series aims to put together the corporate, hospital and SCO to present a meaningful concert, bringing warmth and joy to the patients and healthcare staff through music.”

This is the first time SCO performs at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Ms Jasmine Ye, Corporate Communications Executive of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital said, “We believe that the SCO performance within our hospital will bring about melodious sounds to sooth and calm our patients. The performance creates a unique experience for our patients and their caregivers.”

SCO will return to perform at KK Women & Children’s Hospital for the third time on 28 April. The two previous performances were in 2012 and 2015. Ms Audrey Lau,  Corporate Development Director of KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital shared, “The arts, such as music and dance, transcend language, evoke inspiration and facilitate healing. We are honoured to have Singapore Chinese Orchestra perform in the Arts@KKH, our ongoing outreach programme where performing arts groups share their talent at KKH for our patients, visitors and staff.
