Singapore, 10 July 2017 (Monday) – As the Chinese saying goes “drama depicts life, life depicts drama”. How does music illustrate this? Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will present a concert programme to induce your emotions this August. SCO Assistant Conductor Moses Gay will conduct this concert with SCO dizi musician Tan Chye Tiong and gaohu musician Yuan Qi. This one-night only concert titled Portrayal of Life, will be held on 26 August 2017 (Saturday), 8pm, at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre Auditorium.
The lively rhythm of Zheng Lu and Ma Hong Ye’s Good News Reaches the Border, and Liu Chang Yuan’s Carnival Dance will let you experience life’s moments of joy. The mystical and enchanting piece by Zhao Ji Ping – The Desert Smoke will trigger audience’s feelings of melancholy. SCO will perform the fourth movement: Elegy, in this concert.
SCO’s gaohu musician Yuan Qi, winner of 2nd Hong Kong International Chinese Instrumental Competition, will perform He Zhan Hao’s erhu concerto The Sorrowful Departure to depict life’s moments of separation. SCO’s dizi musician Tan Chye Tiong, First Prize winner in the Dizi Category of the Fourth and Tenth National Music Competition, will perform Kuan Nai-chung’s dizi concerto The Butterfly Dream, which depicts illusions in life.
Experience how music can induce your emotions and illustrate the dramatic scenes in life.
