Singapore, 21 December 2017 (Thursday) – The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will welcome 2018 with its first Community Concert at Bukit Batok West Mall’s Open Plaza on 20 January, titled Musical Celebration at West Mall. The concert will be conducted by SCO Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong. Admission is free.

SCO will perform a selection of repertoire from prominent composers to celebrate the multiracial vibrancy Singapore has, including Malay Folk Song Duo and Singai Naadu. SCO sheng musician, Kevin Cheng Ho Kwan, will perform renowned composer Lo Leung Fai’s sheng concerto Spring at the Seaside (春之海滨). Erhu musicians Li Yu Long and Li Yuan will perform the third movement: Hunting (猎) from Liu Xi Jin’s double erhu concerto Hymn of Wusuli (乌苏里吟).

Chinese oldies lovers and fans of Taiwanese Queen of Hats, Fong Fei Fei, will rejoice and sing-along to a medley of Fong Fei Fei’s songs titled Years Flow As Water (流水年华).

This concert is in collaboration with Bukit Batok Community Arts and Culture Club (CACC), proudly supported by West Mall.
