Singapore, 2 March 2018 (Friday) – The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) Music Oasis Concert will perform a selection of repertoire to bring audience on a musical tour around China at Singapore Botanic Gardens Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage on 31 March 2018, 6pm. This concert is organized by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra in collaboration with the Singapore Botanic Gardens. SCO Assistant Conductor Moses Gay is the conductor for this concert. Admission is free.

 

SCO will perform a series of rousing repertoire that includes renowned pieces representing different parts of China. Groove with the rhythm of Dance of the Yao People(瑶族舞曲) orchestrated by Peng Xiu Wen, step into a magical tour round the Tibetan Plateau with A Trip to Lhasa composed by Kuan Nai Chung, and explore the mystical Ava Mountain from Yunnan with Dianxi Folk Tunes composed by Guo Wen Jing. 

The concert will also feature popular China folk song Jasmine (茉莉花) composed by Liu Wen Jin and The Silk Road (丝绸之路) composed by Jiang Ying. SCO dizi principal Yin Zhi Yang will perform with the SCO ensemble in Song of the Herdsmen (牧民新歌) orchestrated by Wang Zhi Wei, bringing the prairie from Inner Mongolia to the audience.

This concert is co-organized by Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Singapore Botanic Gardens.
