Singapore, 5 September 2018 (Wednesday) – In a unique riverfront concert experience, Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) and Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant will present the first evening edition of the signature Musical Bento Box concert in celebration of this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival. Held at the UOB Plaza Atrium on 19 September 2018 (Wednesday) at 6:30pm, the hour-long concert will be conducted by SCO Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong. Guests can soak in the festive atmosphere, savouring Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant’s signature dishes and mooncakes in a specially prepared bento box while enjoying the concert. For the first time, a pop-up bar by Chuān @ The Sixtieth (川) will be selling drinks to further enhance the concert experience. Admission is free.

 

In celebration of Mid-Autumn, the SCO ensemble will perform Luis Demetrio and Pablo Beltran Ruiz’s classic song Sway, Yellow Submarine’s Lemon TreeMoonlight in the City(城里的月光)and Moon Over My Heart, arranged by Sulwyn Lok.

Sulwyn Lok’s Bossa Nova Rousing Clouds Chasing the Moon will also be played alongside familiar tunes such as Phang Kok Jun’s rearrangement of Henry Mancini’s Moon River; Astor Piazolla’s Libertango; Dave Brubeck’s Take Five arranged by Phang Kok Jun, and Ng Chee Yao’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Rounding off the evening’s music celebration will be an evergreen Chinese orchestral favourite, most suitable for this festive concert – Full Moon Blossoms.

 

Available at $16, Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant’s bento dinner boxes will comprise popular signatures such as Homemade Beancurd with Spicy Bean Paste (麻婆豆腐) and Stir-fried French Beans with Minced Meat (干煸四季豆), as well as the restaurant’s silky Homemade Bean Curd with Wolfberry (枸杞甜豆花) dessert and a Mini Snow Skin Mooncake (迷你冰皮月饼) in celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival.

 

This concert is in collaboration with Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant, with the concert venue proudly supported by UOB.
