Singapore, 9 October 2018 (Tuesday) – Film is also known as the eighth form of art. With every production of film, there will be music accompanying the work, some of which have stood the test of time, becoming classics today. Join the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) on A Date with Filmelody at the SCO Lunchtime Concert on 24 October 2018 (Wednesday), 12:30pm at SCO Concert Hall. Conducted by SCO Resident Conductor Quek Ling Kiong, this is a ticketed free admission concert.

 

To coincide with the eighth form of art, this concert will feature eight film and movie music. SCO will perform Sim Boon Yew’s rearrangement of Theme of Pioneers (闯将令), which is one of the soundtracks from Stephen Chow’s movie – Kungfu Hustle; the Seventh Movement: Epilogue- The Drumbeats for the Loess Plateau(鼓阵) from Suite of Loess Plateau(黄土地)which is the soundtrack of the movie with the same name composed by Zhao Ji Ping; Chen Xie Yang’s orchestration of the popular Jay Chou hit song Chrysanthemum Terrace(菊花台), theme song to the 2006 chinese epic hit film by Zhang Yimou – Curse of the Golden Flower.

 

SCO will also perform Sulywn Lok’s arrangement of Neo Pipa Voices(新琵琶语), which is adapted from Pipa Voices by film composer Lin Hai, theme song of the 2004 movie Letter from an Unknown Woman; theme song from the classic evergreen movie Titanic – My Heart Will Go On, theme songs from animated films: How To Train Your Dragon rearranged by Sulwyn Lok and Kiki’s Delivery Service(宅急便)rearranged by Chow Jun Yi and Phang Kok Jun’s arrangement of Kungfu Panda(功夫熊猫).
