Singapore, 15 October 2018 (Monday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s popular Community Series concert returns to Tampines Central in conjunction with Music @ Tampines 2018 on 3 November 2018 (Saturday), 6pm. With a repertoire to be enjoyed by the family, relive growing-up memories at Tampines with SCO Assistant Conductor Moses Gay in this concert. Admission is free.

 

SCO will perform Medley of Television Drama Theme Songs rearranged by SCO composer-in-residence Law Wai Lun, which is a medley of familiar Singapore television drama theme songs from the 90s which Singaporeans would be familiar with, which includes Kopi-O (咖啡乌), Good Morning, Sir!(早安老师!)The Awakening (雾锁南洋)and I Can Endure the Hardship(我吃得起苦). SCO would also perform a medley of songs from the popular Chinese television series The Legend of the Condor Heroes Trilogy(射雕英雄三部曲), adapted from the wuxia novel of the same title by Louis Cha.

 

SCO’s young zhonghu musician, Wong Qin Kai, will perform Vittorio Monti’sCzardas with SCO. SCO will also perform a robust work by veteran Singaporean composer Phoon Yew Tien, Overture(奋勇前进)and Jiang Ying’s Impressions of Chinese Music(印象国乐). Derived from Dunhuang ancient music scores, the work reflects the legacy of the spirit and faith of the Chinese people.
