Singapore, 22 October 2018 (Monday) – Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO)’s chamber concert series Music Tuesdays will feature SCO percussion principal Xu Fan this November with an exciting selection of Chinese and western percussion works. Music Tuesdays: Xu Fan’s World of Percussion will be held on 13 November 2018 (Tuesday), 7.30pm, at the SCO Concert Hall.
Xu Fan will perform percussion works including Luo Tianqi’s Beyond the Clouds, Astor Piazzolla’s Tango Suite I arranged by Kevin Super, Peking opera tune Night Thoughtsarranged by Li Min Xiong, Zhang Xiaochi’s Different Path which is a Singapore premiere and will be performed with a mix of East-West percussion instruments, and John Thrower’s Aurora Borealis: Starry Night. Music Tuesdays is an hour-long concert with no intermission. Xu Fan will engage in a post-concert chat with the audience after the concert.
Xu Fan picked up learning percussion from his father at a young age. Over the years, Xu Fan has mastered both Chinese and western percussion techniques and has won compliments from his performances at prestigious venues such as the National Grand Theater of China, Beijing Poly Theater and Beijing Concert Hall.
Xu Fan will be joined by SCO concertmaster Li Bao Shun, SCO associate percussion principal Tan Loke Chuah, SCO percussion musician Benjamin Boo and China’s acclaimed young percussionist Zhang Xiaochi.
