This two-night concert brings together four award-winning young conductors who will take the stage to helm a selection of Chinese orchestra masterpieces – winner of the prestigious Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition 2016’s Kahchun Wong, SCO Assistant Conductor Moses Gay who are both Singaporeans; Hong Kong’s Rupert Woo, second-prize winner of the 2nd International Conducting Competition for Chinese Music organised by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra; and Malaysia’s Pung Aik Khai, second-prize winner of the Taipei Chinese Orchestra International Conducting Competition 2015. Joining them will be SCO’s young musicians – zhongruan associate principal Lo Chai Xia, gaohu associate principal Zhou Ruo Yu, sheng musician Kevin Cheng and yangqin musician Ma Huan – who will perform their respective instrumental concertos under their baton.
