Wang Fu Jian, artistic director of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, conducts SCO in a night of plucked-strings compositions. Shanghai Chinese Orchestra’s liuqin musician, Tang Yi Wen, will perform A Drinking Song by one of China’s most influential composers Liu Wen Jin. SCO’s charismatic pipa principal, Yu Jia, will present the Singapore premiere of pipa concertPleasure of Playing, an emotional and refined piece by Liu Chang Yuan. Other pieces include Silk Road by Jiang Ying and Surging Forward by Xie Peng, both winners of the National Music Competition (Chinese Orchestra) Award. If you like pipa and liuqin, you must not miss this!
