
SCO presents Season 23/24, an exciting array of concerts
The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) launched an exciting new concert season 23/24 on 22 August 2023 with 14 spectacular ticketed productions, starting from September 2023 to June 2024. Including all ticketed shows that we will be presenting, SCO will be staging more than 100 concerts and activities in the concert hall, at schools and in outreach concerts.

Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) launches a series of concerts this August to September 2023, catered to draw in both SCO fans, as well as new audiences young and old. The SCO will also draw from both past and present, to breathe new life into orchestral masterpieces that have captivated their local and international audiences through the years.

Conveyed with love, SCO is set to showcase their beloved annual favourites Mother’s Day and Young Children’s concert this May
Under the baton of Conductor Emeritus Tsung Yeh, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra will mesmerise all with completely new orchestra works composed by Composer-in-Residence Wang Chenwei. All four works performed will be premiered locally in this concert. Among the four works performed is the world’s first ever virtuosic concerto specially written for the diyin sheng. Not to be missed by diyin sheng and sheng students, or instrument enthusiasts!

In May, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will showcase their perennial favourites, including the Mother’s Day concert and Young Children’s concert. Join SCO and Xinyao veteran artist, Alex Su, to commemorate this Mother’s Day with heart-warming favourites, and spend the weekend with the adventurer Quek Quek!

Mapletree Presents Orchestral Renditions of Nostalgic Melodies at VivoCity on 26 & 27 May 2023
SCO’s collaboration with Mapletree continues for the second year. For the second time, Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) is presenting a live performance at VivoCity Amphitheatre by Singapore Chinese Orchestra (“SCO”). On the back of last year’s overwhelming turnout, this year’s concert, SCO Goes To VivoCity will run for two days instead of one.

Darrell Ang returns and conducts the Singapore Chinese Orchestra in his maiden Chinese orchestra concert
Singaporean conductor Darrell Ang returns home after an extensive and impressive conducting career around the world. This is his maiden concert with a Chinese orchestra, after an extensive conducting career with world-renowned symphony orchestras.
In 2007, Darrell won the three top awards – the Grand, Audience and Orchestra prizes – at the 50th Besancon International Young Conductor’s Competition. In 2015, his Zhou Long Chen Yi: Symphony “Humen 1839” with the New Zealand Orchestra by Naxos Records was nominated for best performance at Grammys in 2016. Darrell is currently Sichuan’s Artistic Director and Chief Conductor since 2017.
