Singapore, 14 May 2025 – The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) unveils its 25/26 season under the theme Metamorphosis, kicking off with a grand opening concert on 19 July 2025. This season marks the final chapter of a three-part artistic journey, following Affinity (23/24) and Seamless (24/25), which together trace a narrative of tradition, transformation, and identity through Chinese orchestral music. The Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will present two captivating, nature-inspired concerts on April 5 at 6:00 PM and May 10 at 7:30 PM, under the baton of internationally acclaimed conductor Darrell Ang. These concerts, Music Oasis: Songs of Ancient Birds and A Bug’s Life, offer audiences uniquely themed musical journeys featuring birdsong and insects respectively.

This March and April, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will enchant audiences with two captivating concerts as part of its “Virtuoso Series”—”Dreamscapes: Pang Kapang and SCO” and “Feng Ya Song: Liu Ju and SCO.” These concerts showcase the distinctive beauty of Chinese orchestral music while weaving together narratives of emotion, history, poetry, and imagination, offering listeners an extraordinary journey through time and culture.

The Singapore Chinese Orchestra is proud to present the 2025 Chamber Charms Series, featuring two distinctly themed concerts in February and March at the SCO Concert Hall. Centered around plucked and bowed string instruments, these bespoke chamber performances embrace the rich traditions of Chinese chamber music while incorporating innovative cross-cultural and contemporary elements.

As the new year approaches, the Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO) proudly unveils two highly anticipated concerts in its 2025 Family Series: “Rhapsodies of Spring 2025” and “Destiny.” These performances will not only celebrate the rich diversity of Chinese orchestral music but also blend traditional and contemporary elements, creating a captivating musical experience for audiences of all ages.

The Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra (SNYCO) is thrilled to announce the start of its 24/25 concert season! This season’s lineup will feature local compositions that highlight Singapore’s multicultural heritage alongside global classics. Featuring three major ticketed concerts—Youthful Rhapsody, Musical Voyage II, and Legacy III—the season promises an extraordinary lineup of performances designed to captivate and inspire audiences. The 3rd edition of the Singapore Chinese Music Competition (SCMC) 2024 has concluded with resounding success after 18 days of breath-taking performances and fierce competition, with the “Finals for Grand Category and Prize Presentation Ceremony” held at SCO Concert Hall this evening at 7:30pm. Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance, Mr Chee Hong Tat graced this event as the Guest-of-honour. This year’s SCMC was a historic milestone, with 409 participants, a record-breaking turnout in the post-COVID era. Participants ranged in age from 7 to 49 years, with 198 first-time competitors, showcasing the inclusive and growing appeal of Chinese music.

The third Singapore Chinese Music Competition (SCMC) 2024 will officially begin on 26 November 2024 and conclude with a Prize Winner’s concert on 13 December, and Grand Finals and Awards ceremony on 14 December. The competition seeks to provide an excellent platform to develop the performing skills of young musicians, raise musical standards, discover new talents, and connect our people by supporting their lifelong interest in pursuing Chinese music in Singapore.
