Internationally acclaimed Singaporean conductor Darrell Ang collaborates with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra once again, exploring the fusion of Chinese and Western music. In early summer, he will lead a concert themed around insects. The programme includes Butterfly Lovers, a classic contemporary Chinese piece, reinterpreted by South Korean-born cellist, Cho Hang Oh. Additionally, Butterfly Overture, composed by American-based composer Ge Gan-Ru to express his gratitude to his mentor Chen Gang, will be performed for the first time in a Chinese orchestral version. The concert will also feature The Insect World by composer Doming Lam, and the world premiere of Darrell Ang’s original composition A Bug’s Life – Paraphrase on a Theme by Alexander Scriabin.
